Volunteering is made easy as the event is well organised and you are briefed for the day. It is such a fun atmosphere and everyone is doing something amazing to raise funds for a greater good.
I loved being on the registration and elephant costume handing out duty with a welcoming smile for the participants and encouragement for their upcoming run. There is a feeling of real pride to know that the money raised will make such a huge difference and there are individual memories of encouraging words to those concerned about achieving the run ahead.
I'd definitely recommend volunteering to others. To give some hours or days to a valuable cause is enriching. You experience a connectedness and atmosphere that is heart-warming.
This was an awesome experience for me. Mainly because of the cause but also meeting likeminded people who want to share in the same cause by whichever means.
It was also great to see people of all ages and nationalities doing the run and raising awareness. It was great to also cheer the runners during their run, encouraging them onwards, high fiving them, and taking a few photos to capture the moments.
Just taking in the atmosphere of the whole event was my favourite part of the day and I think I made a difference even in a small way. Although I wasn't able to run, it was great to help motivate and encourage runners, and raise awareness.
I very much enjoyed volunteering at this event, it was well organised for volunteers, we received information in advanced and were walked around the course before we started.
My favourite part of the day was seeing the runners on the course and egging them on not to give up. I was a friendly face, willing them to succeed which is so important!
