The Enormous Elephant Run is home to inspiring people who want to make a difference for Africa's elephants. At The David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust, we work to protect Kenya's wildlife, including elephants. We can't bear a future without this iconic species and we're determined to keep doing all we can to protect wild herds, treat injured elephants and care for calves, orphaned by ivory poaching.
Many elephants targeted by poachers or killed in human-wildlife conflict have milk-dependent infants and, without family or a mother, a baby milk-dependent elephant has little chance of survival. Your fundraising can help protect wild elephants and provide 24/7 specialist care for orphaned calves, like Zongoloni. Read her story.
Register today and help us save more elephant livesSandi joined The Enormous Elephant Run: Classic in London in 2015. Having visited The David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust's Nairobi Orphanage, she says it: "Made me realise how vast the poaching crisis was and what a huge task to defeat it." Sandi was determined to help the elephants she saw and says: "I always enjoy a challenge and never having been a runner, starting in my 60's made it a big one! I also loved the atmosphere created by everyone running for the same cause."
Sandi, who jogged her way around the course, says: "The atmosphere with so many people running, jogging, walking together for a common cause is amazing. Everyone looks silly in their suits, it's a laugh, the venue is great, you're raising money for a worthwhile cause and it's fun!!"
Maria has been a part of our London herd from the start, joining our first ever Enormous Elephant Run: Classic in 2014. A foster parent and already a keen runner, she joined the run to help support Africa's elephants and says "the Run is a very visual way to support the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust and publicise the plight of elephants."
